Its been awhile

 Many things have


happened since my last posts.   I was sick w an autoimmune disease that kicked me to the curb.  For work i had to push thru but i was really sick inside my body.   Then the holidaZe came around.   My schedule is always wack durimg tbat time of yr.   

I was also having a difficult time w trichoderma.  Nor was the mycelium growing well in my grain jars.  They would start growing then stall .   We had changed from corn to rye then to wildbird seed.   Just trying different things.plus the season was changing.  Not sure which of these contributed but it taught me to change a few growing techniques.   Always learning.

Being so sick for a while i just didnt care either.  But i'm back....!!!


So. I think ive decided to work w only a few strains.

I'm working w some of my last experimental strains.  One is a jar of mycelium which im hoping will grow out soon.

Halo:  not exactly sure wjo created this, but it seems to be a strain that someone created.

Its got the cutest little blue halo on the cap of some of the larger shrooms,   but,  it grows in these little stumpy blobs which is extremely hard to clean the substrate off the butt.   This will most likely be my last crop of halo but i had to grow it to learn.   With that said i have a few pics to post which will be good for me to keep in my photo catalogue here.


The 3rd photo is how much was produced in this crop.

In the 2nd photo there are a few of the blue halos on the caps.  This is also how much was left after i cleaned them.   Still a good crop.

The 1st pic i took mostly to show the blue halos.

They are so pretty!

My experiences...

 Ive not taken many trips yet to have enough to write about. Im thinking ill use this little blog to keep track of what ive grown, my novice experience of how they grow etc. My first batch i did so many things wrong, yet i had an amazing crop . I started w a grow bag of grain that i bought online. I forgot to label the strain that i had innoculated into the bag,  forgot to write a date of when i actually innoculated,  so it seemed to take FOREVER to fill that bag w mycelium.  Maybe it did since i didnt date it?  Once the mycelium did start growing it was sooo pretty.   I loved watching it grow.  Still do love watching all the various strains grow.  I look at them nearly every day in awe. Next i used substrate that i had also bought online to mix my bag of unknown mycelium in.  This was my 1st experience, i had purchased a monotub which took a lot of substrate.  Again, after a week of seeimg nothing happening i was disappointed. Mycelium

  Mycelium is so delicate , dainty,  very pretty,  to me. Whether its growing in agar, which ive yet to get a good photo of,  or growing in a grain jar,  or beginning to grow on the surface of substrate.   I love seeing the white threadlike growth.

Not so much

 It's been a long while since I've even grown anything . I had way too much previously grown and just got out of growing. Maybe will get back to it at some point. I actually do love growing.
